Born in Kyoto in 1952. Graduated from the Faculty of Science and Engineering of Ritsumeikan University.
Joined Kyoto Prefectural Office in 1975.
Became deputy governor since 2013 after serving as Industry Promotion Section Manager,
Assistant General Manager of Department of Commerce and Industry,
and Director of Commerce, Labor, and Tourism, etc.
Retired as deputy governor in the middle of the third term, on March 22, 2024.
Became the village mayor of Art and Technology Village Kyoto (ATVK) on April 1, 2024.
From April 2024, “village mayor’s various consultation” will be conducted within the Art and Technology Village Kyoto.
Former Vice Governor of Kyoto Prefecture, the village mayor Akimasa Yamashita will bring together
all his life and experiences to conduct “Corporate Life Consultation” for companies.
I hope to be able to give advice to small and medium-sized businesses in Kyoto Prefecture
so that this will be an opportunity for them to take a big step towards becoming healthy.
